Raunchy CoG Excerpt! Ohemgee. May 26, 2009

I cannot believe this. I actually had something constructive to blog about today, but first I said to myself, “I should finish doing this chemistry review question first, because my test is tomorrow. Then I can blog.” And guess what happened? I forgot what I was going to blog about. F-a-i-l. It figures I’m actually motivated to blog when I should be studying for two tests, too. I’ve got my priorities mixed up, just like Hermione in Philosopher’s Stone, lol. Oh, Hermione. <3

OH, I remembered what I wanted to blog about! Silly me, I’ve even still got the window open in my browser. *sigh* So, I was procrastinating studying earlier today (what else is new?), and randomly I thought of Cassandra Clare’s MySpace page and had this urge to visit it. What happens when I get there? A new entry was recently posted! The entry pretty much made my life. In it, she mentioned that her website for the Infernal Devices trilogy is up and running. *confetti* Unfortunately, the first book (book one: The Clockwork Angel; book two: The Clockwork Prince; book three: The Clockwork Princess) isn’t going to be released until the fall of 2010 (no set date yet), so I’ve got a while to wait. I’m so excited, though, because if these books and characters are anywhere near as awesome as those in The Mortal Instruments trilogy, I’m going to love them! She’s even got an excerpt up from chapter seven (titled Pale Kings and Princes) of the first book. Read it here. Unfortunately, the character profile for Jem (on the character page – look for the headings at the top of the page) is cut off, so I can’t read it all. :( The character profiles for Tessa and Will look really awesome, though! I’m so excited for this book! (In case I haven’t already mentioned that. XD)

Something else she posted that made my day was on her LiveJournal a little while ago. She posted a link to an unedited scene from City of Glass! AHH. The number one reason why this made my day is because it’s a Jace/Clary excerpt – unedited in all its racy glory. <3 Ok, it’s actually not that racy, but it does involve more … raunchiness? That’s not really the word I’m looking for … than in the book, and it’s awesome. YAY for Jace/Clary! <333 Read it here.

On the subject of blogs, I was reading Hayley Hoover’s blog (go read it, by the way! She’s hilarious), and she mentioned a website called PostSecret. I clicked the link, being the curious person I am, and what I found was really interesting. I can’t describe it myself, so here’s a direct quote from the website: PostSecret is an ongoing community art project where people mail in their secrets anonymously on one side of a postcard. I was reading through the posts on the website, and they’re all funny, touching, kind of alarming, silly, etc. The author of this website has so far put together four books, and is currently (as far as I’m aware) working on a fifth. Two of the postcards in particular caught my attention: this one and this one. The author has actually published the books he assembled with secrets people have mailed him, and I really want to get them. They’re pretty expensive, though – well, they’re actually a regular price for books, but a) I’m cheap, and b) there are four books. 4 x $20 = too much money for Lindsay. I could theoretically get them off Ebay or something, but even that would still cost $55. Unfortunately, Chapters only has two of the books, so I can’t even just bike there in the summer and sit around in the chairs at the back and read them without buying them. :p I guess I’ll see what happens. I can always read the first two and buy the others or something. We’ll see.

One last thing before I go: I was in math today, and my teacher was casually talking about the test to some students (today was a work period, so he was just sort of mulling around and chatting with us while we worked. He’s the best! <33) and he said something about yesterday’s test that caught my attention, and you’ll never guess what it was, so I’ll just tell you all. I finally got perfect on a math test! AHH. I don’t think that’s ever happened before. (If it has, I don’t remember, which is upsetting because I hope I’d remember something like this.) I was so pleased! This brings me closer to my life goal, which is to get perfect on a math exam. As you all know, exams are coming up soon, so I have one last chance to get perfect on a math exam. (Of course, I’m taking math in university, but let’s face it, there’s absolutely no way I’d get perfect on a university math exam.) So, this is my last chance to complete my life goal.

And now, speaking of school, I must go and study, considering I have a test tomorrow and a test Thursday, and I haven’t yet looked over all of my notes for my test Thursday. Ohmygod, I feel so bad about that test. My test study habits are definitely going to have to change for university. There’s no way I’m going to be able to pull off the same marks I have now by study for tests two (or sometimes even one) days in advance, and the weekend before for exams, too. That’s not going to cut it. You all have full permission to scold me if I don’t study for tests well enough in advance, ’cause if I don’t, I’ll flunk out of uni and be forced to be a hobo. Not cool, I’m sure. Anyway. So I’m off to study and also watch game four of the Pittsburgh/Carolina series. Poor Carolina is down three games to none. I want Pittsburgh to win the series, but I’m also kind of hoping Carolina wins at least one game, ’cause it would be embarassing to lose a conference final in four games straight. Also, then when Pittsburgh advances to the Cup final, they have to beat Detroit. It is unacceptable if they don’t. GO PENS.

I’m actually leaving now… Bye! <3

Waiting May 23, 2009

I’ve been doing a lot of waiting lately, and am currently doing some waiting still. Considering I’m not a patient person, it’s kind of painful! Right now I’m waiting for the third game of the Pens/Canes game. Thankfully that starts in five minutes, so I don’t have to wait long, and I have this blog post and music to help me through. I’m also waiting on my friend to let me know if she’s coming to the same university as me, so we can do the residence application together, since if she’s coming, then we’re going to room together. I’m not too anxious about that because she’s supposed to let me know by tomorrow. The thing I’m most anxious about is the next episode of Criminal Minds. Ohemgee. Yesterday, I saw the season finale (which aired on Wednesday), and ohmygod it was amazing. There was a ridiculous cliff-hanger that I didn’t expect at all, but I haven’t been watching Criminal Minds for very long – I think I started watching at the end of last season – so I don’t have a very good idea of what they do for season finales, and I’m not too in-tune with the characters and the show itself, like I might be for CSI or House. Plus, this cliff-hanger related to a previous episode, and it was right at the end of the episode. I knew something was up during the last minute of the show, but I was expecting a slightly different turn of events. Anyway, OMG. I need to see the next episode immediately! I can’t be in suspence for the whole summer. :( It’s going to eat me alive. And who knows, being at uni, if I’m going to be able to see the season premiere! I’d better. Seriously. If I live in an apartment- or suite-style residence, it comes with free cable, so as long as someone in my room brings a TV, and no one else wants to watch something else at the same time (unless someone else brings a VCR), then we’re good. Assuming I have time to watch TV. We’ll see, I suppose.

Ahh. It’s really killing me that I don’t have anyone with whom I can discuss this episode of Criminal Minds right now! One of my friends is supposed to watch it tomorrow, I think, since she was working the night it aired, so hopefully I can talk to her in chem on Monday or something. No doubt she’ll have some good insights to analyse.

On a completely different note, I finally got a phone! *yay* I actually like it more than expected, considering it’s not the gorgeous blue phone I was eyeing at from Rogers/Telus. It’s a silvery-grey colour that sort of looks dark blue in certain lights. Also, my plan includes international text! How cool is that? I don’t have many minutes right now, but I’m not going to use my phone that much at the moment, so it’s okay. I might be getting a different plan when I go to uni that will give me more minutes, so we’ll see if I need it.

This is getting kind of long, so one last thing: I was YouTube-ing the other day, and somehow I came across a Mick/Beth video (<333) – from Moonlight, for those of you who don’t know – and this one video in particular had an amazing song behind it. It’s called What About Now by Daughtry. <3 Take a listen!

Now I’m off to watch the game/study/reread City of Bones for the upteenth time. See you later!

Heartbreak May 10, 2009

I’m just going to go right ahead and say it: I don’t think I’ve ever been so upset over the outcome of a hockey game before. I actually cried a little at the end when they were handing out the medals and showing the Russians celebrating. The gold medal match of the IIHF World Men’s tournament just finished and we lost to the Russians 2 – 1. The loss isn’t even what’s making me so upset. Of course I’d be upset if we lost fairly, but I really don’t think we did. There were so many blatant trips that weren’t called against the Russians, and the Russian net kept coming off at the slightest touch, which of course got the whistle called and stopped play, preventing us from scoring, just to name a few things. We out-shot the Russians ridiculously – I’m pretty sure we had more than twice the amount of shots they did. But our net didn’t come off as often. They were able to drive the net constantly. We had to take the penalties. Wtf kind of hockey game is that? It was so unfair. Plus, I think our players were trying to be too fancy with the puck sometimes. They would pass instead of shooting, try to deke the goalie instead of shooting.

Oh, and I can’t forget the icing on the cake: the Russains are claiming that the wins the Soviet Union had at the World Championships (World Juniors and World Men’s and possibly Under 18s, too) count as wins for Russia, so they were claiming that, before this tournament, Canada and Russia had an equal number (24) of World titles. Now that they’ve won this tournament, they’re going to say that they’ve won more than us now, which isn’t true because the Soviet Union consisted of more than just Russia. UGH. They’re going to rub it in our face. We had better beat them next year, both in World Juniors AND in World Men’s and reclaim our title as the hockey nation with the most World titles, even by Russia’s standards of including the Soviet Union.

To top off my bad mood, too, I was reminded of Moonlight yesterday, and today I went to IMDB to read up on the trivia (because I’m a nerd like that) and I saw that this one person posted saying that Friday nights were boring without Moonlight, which reminded me how sad I was about Moonlight ending, and how I’m still really upset over that. Ugh, CBS. Why do you have to ruin everything good about TV? I hate you.

I’m going to go and try to distract myself. Maybe I’ll watch the promo for next week’s Criminal Minds season finale again… Oh, CBS, if you make the wrong decision here, too, I swear I will never forgive you.

Happy Birthday to Marzieh! May 8, 2009

Filed under: School,Song of the Day — Me! @ 8:45 pm

Marzieh reminded me that I have to blog (because I said I would and I haven’t! I fail miserably) and so I’m going to blog now and wish Marzieh another happy birthday! Since it’s her birthday now. Well, not in Canada’s timezones, but where she is. :)

Nothing really interesting has been happening recently… Although there are hilarious things that happen and I think, “Hey, I should blog about that!” but then when I get home from school I forget about it because I have work. (Sometimes.) Though this weekend I have no homework! :) We were going to have a lab report to do, but my teacher couldn’t prepare the lab in time, so we’re doing it on Monday instead. Which means I have all weekend to relax. :) Although on Sunday (since I’m actually busy tomorrow visiting my university of choice for the third time XD) I’m going to have to actually accept that university, since I haven’t done that yet and I have to by May 28th. I’m pretty sure I have to send them a deposit for the dorms, too. Speaking of which, I have to decide on my top three choices of residences… Hopefully I’ll be able to do that tomorrow after seeing the uni again.

On a completely unrelated note, I was at Walmart last night and got these delicious ice cream bars, and I also found this awesome vanilla pudding (and they have banana, butterscotch and chocolate, too) that has no trans fat and is low in saturated fats! :) Yay for healthier pudding choices! <3 This is really making me want one of those ice cream bars or some pudding now. :p

There’s also only one week left until my math competition, which I’m really excited about! I’m such a huge nerd. XD I should practice my mental math beforehand, because there’s a mental math category and my mental math sucks a lot.

Enough about math, though. I was also going to talk about hockey, but I don’t think anyone who reads this, other than Jacinthe, follows hockey at all, so that’s pointless. Plus, I’ll just end up jinxing something again. I always do that. I’m also kind of tired so I’m just going to end off here before I start rambling ridiculously. I’ll try and post again tomorrow after I get back from the uni or something, since I’m sure I’ll have remembered something hilarious to blog about by then!

Old School by Hedley is the song of the day, because that’s the last song I downloaded, and I love it. <3
